Introduction

Hillingdon and Harrow Active Plus is a social and activities organisation for young adults aged 18 - 35. It offers its members the chance to meet new people, make new friends and enjoy a wide range of weekday and weekend activities.

Hillingdon and Harrow Active Plus is part of the National Federation of Plus Groups.

What is Plus?

Plus is made up of a nationwide network of voluntary Social and Activities Groups who run a wide ranging programme of weekly events for people in the 18 to 35 age range. Each group is run by it's members for its members.

Cost

The membership fee is now at £10 for a whole year.

Connections

Plus holds no allegiance to any other organisation, political or religious. We are not associated with any over l8's holiday Club or dating agency. Plus is an organisation for making new friends and meeting old/existing ones.

Activities

Every week throughout the country member's meet to participate in activities ranging from nightclubbing to walks , from quizzes to sports, from days out in the sun to days out in the cold. Each Group in the country has its own events run by its own members.

Groups

Each Group decides a programme of events so people do not just come down to be entertained, but can sit and get to know each other.

Events

These events are open to all members and Plus thrives on inter Group visits. These give members the chance to meet new people and try new things

Area

Every Group is part of an Area. The Area Committee is made up of Group members and they are elected annually at a local conference. The Area committee also run events on behalf of Group members, which tend to take place at a weekend. We are part of the 'North Thames and Chiltern Area' (NTAC)

Atmosphere

No amount of written publicity can do justice to the unique atmosphere of Plus. It is probably the only organisation where you have a real chance to meet people from all over the country and have a say in the way your Federation is run.

Background Information About Plus

Founded in 1941, (18) Plus is the National Activities Organisation that seeks to benefit and improve the lives of young adults, through a careful balance of enjoyment and responsibility. It is run almost entirely by volunteers and largely by local Committees who are elected to serve for twelve months. Members devise programmes of very diverse activities, organising whatever they want from interesting talks and quizzes to learning management and leadership skills, from discos and sports to charity fund raising. Plus actively promotes friendship and participation, providing excellent opportunities for self-development. There is always plenty to do, both during the week and at weekends, as Areas and Groups join in one another's events and debate and vote at 18 Plus meetings and conferences. There are many established members only holidays, such as the WASH weekend (Weekend At Sunny Hunstanton), when 300 members take over a Norfolk holiday camp and enjoy a weekend of top quality live bands and entertainment.
